Dr. Saheb Sahu is a graduate of C. S. Zila School and G. M. College, Sambalpur. He is the first Oriya student to be admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences for MBBS. After his graduation from AIIMS, Dr. Sahu emigrated to USA in 1970. He is a Board certified Pediatrician and Neonatologist. He has also Master Degrees in Public Health and Hospital Administration. He was the Founding Director of NICU at Mercy Hospital, Desmoines, Iowa from 1974-2001. He was also Professor of Pediatrics at Desmoines University from 1973-2005.

     HDr. Sahu and his wife are dual citizen of India and USA. He has two sons, both settled in USA. He is one of the NRI promoters of Kalinga Hospital. He is a member of HCO Executive Committee and a Board Member of Kalinga Hospital Limited. He was the Managing Director of Kalinga Hospital Limited in 2004-2005. During this stay, he has been the Managing Director of Kalinga Hospital Limited since July 2008.

     Dr. Sahu has published 12 books (both medical and non-medical) and many articles. His latest book on "What Can be Done for Orissa's Abject Poverty?" was published in 2009. Dr. and Mrs. Sahu and the Sahu brothers founded the Shakuntala-Bidyadhar Trust (named after his parents) in Sambalpur in 1990. Since 1990, S-B Trust has opened 8 middle schools, one high school, one +2 Science College, one +3 Arts degree College, 4 girls' hostels and one health clinic. The Trust also has dug more than 80 bore wells, planted more than 5 lakhs trees (since 1988) and given scholarships to more than 800 students. The trust is solely funded by Mrs. and Dr. Sahu, from their US income. Dr. Sahu's and the Trust's main focus is to promote girls' education and fruit tree plantation in Orissa.
