Pulmonology is a specialized area of medicine that deals with respiratory system and associated organ that helps in breathing, i.e. airway, lung,mediastinum,pleura and chest wall diseases. A pulmonologist is a specialized doctor who is trained to deal with the respiratory diseases e.g. asthma, COPD, bronchitis, occupational lung disease, lung fibrosis or any cause of breathing abnormality. A patient usually presents to pulmonologist with complaints of cough, expectoration, chest pain, hemoptysis and breathing difficulty. Here, at Kalinga Hospital, we have a dedicated team who undertakes the early detection, diagnosis and prevention of respiratory illnesses in adolescents and adults on OPD as well as emergency basis.

Our department has a critical care wing and is involved in the care of patients on invasive and non invasive ventilation.

The respiratory team is well-trained in managing patients like acute asthma, acute exacerbation of COPD, pneumonia, pneumothorax, hemoptysis and ARDS as well as state- of-the-art treatment for common respiratory illnesses.The department renders facilities for investigation and management of all sorts of infective and non-infective pulmonary diseases.
